My Most Expensive Makeup Purchase | Too Faced

too faced

I will fully admit that I am a skeptic of expensive makeup. I don’t believe in paying for brand name and I do think that with some products, that is exactly what you are doing. I have been a firmly drugstore gal for a long time and I maintain that there are so many amazing drugstore products that can compete with high end products any day. However, I recently decided that by writing off all high end products I might have been being unfairly judgemental. Some ingredients must cost more so surely some products cost more due to this? I would pay for a higher quality product!

Still I was reluctant to fork over my hard earned money without being absolutely sure that I was getting a quality product! I ended up trying a few products while visiting a friend and I finally decided to splurge!pale girl bronzer

Too Faced – Too Good to Resist!

best mascara evertoo faced better than sex

The products I decided to spring for were both from Too Faced. The first was the Better Than Sex mascara, which did totally rock my world! I am an eyeliner addict, I don’t think I’ve left the house without it for several years, but this mascara changed that.  Not only does it lengthen, it adds insane volume – enough that I feel like I do not have to wear eyeliner with it. I am a big advocate for a strong mascara, it opens your eyes and wakes up your face more than any other product, so this was an amazing find! bronzer for pale girlstoo faced bronzer

The second product in my splurge was the Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer. If you happen to have ever seen my face, you’ll know that I am rather pale. I buy the lightest color foundation made and it’s still too dark level pale! Finding a bronzing or contouring shade that is both light and neutral enough to be used during the day is a rare occurrence for me and this was just the ticket! You get very good color payoff but it isn’t too dark and it blends easily.

No discussion of Too Faced products is complete without a mention of the scent! This is a Chocolate bronzer and it smells like it! I would go as far as to say that this bronzer smells delicious! Definitely a nice touch that makes the experience of using it a special one!

The Verdict

I do feel that these products are worth the money. They apply exactly how I want which saves me time in the morning as well as making for an enjoyable application.

Now that I’ve dipped my toe into more high end makeup – what should I try next? Leave your recommendations in a comment below so I can check them out!

Thank you for reading! Have a great day!

Ohhh, these products sound really nice! especially that bronzer – I’ve been too afraid to try any bronzer bc I am so pale!

I’ve only gotten one high-end make up product and it’s the urban decay eyeshadow primer (which my cats hid somewhere….) but it is AMAZING! I really need to get a new one because I miss it everytime I wear eyeshadow.

I was the same way! (Well I would try them – they’d just be crazy!) I don’t use eyeshadow primer personally but I know so many people who recommend the Urban Decay! Here’s hoping your cat decides to bring it back some day soon!

Both of these look great, I’m the same the lightest foundation is often not light enough for my pale face, so I would not normal buy bronzer, but this definitely sounds like it could be a game changer. I also love the sound of the mascara, so there may be two new products coming my way once I get paid.

I have always had bad bronzer experiences but this definitely changed my ways! Also, I can’t rave about this mascara enough! I’ll be buying a new one soon for my upcoming trip, I highly recommend it!

Ohhh I just got a sample of Better than Sex and it’s definitely worth the hype. I’ve tried a lot of BAD high end mascaras but this one’s great. Stila’s HUGE is also the top of my list (another one I got a sample of). I’m thrilled to hear this bronzer works for you because that means it would probably work for me too!

Ooh these are both great products to start with! I own both of them and currently use the mascara in my makeup rotation! They have a waterproof one that is out that I’d love to try. Unfortunately the bronzer is a bit too dark for my fair skin since I’ve gotten a lot more fair. You definitely should try NARS if you don’t own any of their products! Burberry is one of my favorite brands at the moment. I’m loving their Full Kisses lipsticks and Eye Color Contour shadow sticks.

I have also been thinking of trying out the waterproof Better Than Sex! I almost never have issues with mascara running though – so I’m not sure I want to mess with success. Thank you for the recommendations – I will definitely check them out!

Two great products!! I feel like so many people have bad bronzer experiences and then write it off, the most common mistake is its just too dark for you! This is a great one and you’re right it smells delicious!!! I find the biggest difference between high end and drug store makeup is with eye shadows. Kat Von D, Too Faced, and Urban Decay eye shadows are better, creamier, and more blend able than any drug store one I’ve tried! Makeup Geek and Morphe are a good middle of the road option price wise without compromising butteryness! Just makin up words over here, don’t mind me! ?

I’ve never used any Too Faced products, due to lack of availability in my city I think.
That bronzer is beauuutiful. Will definitely add that to my list of “things I need to buy in Sephora!”
With regards to high-end goods you cannot go wrong with MAC lipsticks, Benefit has some fantastic products too. I guess it all depends what you need at the time. I for one love high-end products, but my bank account doesn’t love them as much! hehe.
    Great blog!

I have been wary of high end lipstick! I feel like I already have so many that I like that it’s hard to justify spending more! Also I tend to lose them in bags and I’d feel so guilty if I lost a MAC lipstick! Someday we’ll both have bank accounts that can handle all the high end we want! Thank you for reading! =)

Too Faced’s stuff is so worth it! Love them! I would definitely say to try Buxom’s lip glosses, they are like my favorite thing ever, and if you’re quite pale you might want to try products from Clinique and Becca as I think they have really pale shades that might work for your face. I’m also a massive fan of Benefit Cosmetics Bad Gal Lash and Roller Lash mascaras! 🙂

I have become a bit addicted to Too Faced! I didn’t know that about Clinque – definitely worth investigating! I was looking at Benefit Mascaras in Sephora yesterday but I couldn’t decide which to get so I ended up not getting any. I will look into those two so I’m prepared next time I go in!

Thank you for your lovely comment! Have a great day!
